Hate speech doesn’t always sound like hate.
Sometimes it starts with a joke. A stereotype. A comment that seems “not that serious”.
But words can shape how we see other people — and what we start to accept as normal.
During Week Against Hate Speech, we’re taking a closer look at the language we use, the content we encounter online and the line between expressing an opinion and targeting people because of who they are.
Because media literacy is not only about knowing what is true or false.
It’s also about asking:
What does this message do? Who does it affect? And what does it make us accept?
That’s part of the conversation we’re having through UNITY Project CERV.
21–25 September — Week Against Hate Speech.
