Who is shaping the future of education?
Not artificial intelligence. Teachers.
A new European Commission analysis, based on TALIS 2024 — one of the world’s largest international surveys of teachers — offers an interesting perspective.
Almost 40% of teachers in the EU are aged 50 or over. At the same time, only one in three regularly uses AI in their work, and many say they still need more confidence and support to use digital technologies effectively.
This isn’t a story about teachers falling behind.
It’s a reminder that educational innovation doesn’t happen simply because new technologies exist. It happens when educators have the time, support and opportunities to make those technologies meaningful in their own classrooms.
At Beyond the Screen, we believe the future of digital education starts with empowering the people behind it.
