Connected, but lonely?
We can be connected to almost anyone, anywhere — but that doesn’t always mean we feel less alone.
Last week, as partners of the GENLINK project, we opened the International Café series with an interactive session exploring language, multiculturalism and the ways we connect across cultures. We shared experiences, discussed how language shapes our interactions, and took part in activities that brought different perspectives into the conversation.
Now we’re continuing the series.
On 1 October, GENLINK invites young people and older adults from different countries to an International Café dedicated to solitude and loneliness across generations.
Together, we’ll explore:
• What is the difference between solitude and loneliness?
• Why can we feel lonely even when we are constantly connected online?
• How do younger and older generations experience being alone?
• What helps us build genuine connections and a stronger sense of belonging?
No special knowledge or experience is needed — just curiosity and a willingness to listen, share and meet people from different generations and backgrounds.
