The first Digital Storytelling workshop of Regenerative Visions took place online — proof that this project works just as well in a browser window as it does in a classroom. Hybrid by design, it let participants tune in from wherever they happened to be.
The session itself was a reminder that “storytelling” is not just another buzzword. We worked with five very ordinary tools — images, music, silence, voice, text — and discovered they can say more than a dozen PowerPoints. A striking example: Victims of Silence, a Quebec campaign that uses silence not as absence, but as the loudest sound in the room.
Homework has been assigned, pairs are at work, and on 9 October we reconvene for Part Two: a screening, an exchange, and the pleasure or discomfort of seeing how ideas look on screen.
The arc of the day: awareness first, then a shift in mindset, then the beginnings of action. By the end, participants were already sketching digital statements of their own. They left with homework — to develop their projects in pairs, choosing their own themes, focus and tools. On 9th October we meet again for the second workshop, dedicated to screening these first works and exchanging ideas about how they can grow further.
