Recently, we reflected on the power of language through literature — how words shape behaviour, identity and systems.
But language is not only cultural. It is practical — especially in education. And if language can exclude, it can also empower. CARE works with educators across Europe to make sure it does the latter.
Within the project, language learning is not treated as a separate subject. Through Content and Language Integrated Learning, it is integrated into science, mathematics, arts, civic education and digital literacy.
The key idea: language becomes part of learning — not a barrier to it.
By strengthening both everyday communication and academic language skills, the project supports pupils aged 7–14 with a migrant background in building confidence, inclusion and long-term success.
