In the past weeks, UNITY held two focus groups — one online, one in person — bringing together young people and professionals from across our partner countries. These conversations highlighted just how complex and varied experiences of LGBTQ+ hate speech can be: the platforms are different, the contexts are different, and the impact can be deeply personal.
To build a clearer and more representative picture across Europe, we’re now opening two in-depth questionnaires: one for youth, and one for professionals.
Why this is important? Because the focus groups showed us that no single viewpoint tells the full story. Because online hate takes many shapes — subtle, coded, overt — and understanding it requires perspectives from different countries, communities, and lived realities. Because effective tools and interventions must be grounded in what people actually experience, not what we assume.
⏰How long does it take?
Around 10 minutes. The questionnaire is thorough but manageable — designed to capture nuance without overwhelming you.
