How can language education better support migrant students?
Before developing the CARE learning materials, partners looked at how language education for migrant students works across four countries: Poland, Spain, the Netherlands and Croatia.
The research found different systems — but some familiar challenges.
CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) can connect language learning with real subject knowledge and make learning more meaningful. Yet its use with migrant students remains uneven.
Teachers need more than a methodology. They need training, adaptable materials and practical ways to work with different language levels and cultural backgrounds.
In some countries, CLIL is already well established. In others, it is still limited to individual schools or pilot initiatives.
The CARE Guidebook brings these findings together and offers practical guidance for creating more inclusive language-learning environments.
